Veterans Program with Col. (Ret.) Steven Cook
Join us at 2 pm on Veterans Day for a special presentation by Col. (Ret.) Steven Cook on the history and evolution of Veterans Day. Light refreshments will be served. Free of charge.
Col. (Ret.) Steve Cook retired from active duty at Fort Hood in July 2014. After graduating from Texas A&M in December 1988, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army. Col. (Ret.) Cook served in numerous leadership and staff positions over his 25-year Army career. He has served two tours of duty in the Republic of South Korea; deployed to Mogadishu, Somalia as part of the United Nations (UN) military staff; and three tours to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation New Dawn (OND). Cook has served three times at Fort Hood, first time as a First Lieutenant in 15 Forward Support Battalion, 1st Calvary Division; Squadron Commander, Regimental Support Squadron, 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, and his last assign on active duty as the Operations Officer, G3, 13th Sustainment Command, Expeditionary. He currently resides in Lampasas County on his ranch and teaches Fourth Grade at Kline Whitis Elementary. He has three children attending school in Lampasas.
